I've been reading up on the "feminine divine" and have found what I alluded to in the beginning - there are about 5 opinions for every person who thinks about it! For this reason, I've had a difficult time writing about it because I want to represent others' views accurately...and how? How do I do that when there are three MILLION "theologies" of the feminine divine?

They need to get their 'stuff' together...!

Anyway, here are some of the recurring themes that rot.

1) Feminine Divine = Baby-making ability.

Rot.

2) Creation = Divine (hearkening back to the reproductive cycles of creation, see #1).

Rot.

First Let Me Tell You What I Think

First things first. There are only two types of things - really, there are no exceptions to this! Either you are created or you are The Creator. This means that all of everything that is not God is created. Even our "souls", even angels, even demons, even our friends in Area 51 (for Pat and Ginny!). Now, what do we mean by divine? We can debate that forever as well, but if being divine is a characteristic belonging only to God, then nothing created can be divine.

Therefore, when I speak about the Divine Feminine, I speak only of The Creator, not the created. This is the numero uno disagreement I have with most of the "goddess" folks.

(I suppose we should really talk about the definition of divine, perhaps you would like to comment with your thoughts? You know, "words don't mean, people do" and I believe that, so...whatda'ya think?)

And with the above in mind, reproduction, as we know it, belongs to the created order, thus it is not divine.

Does it mirror God? Yeah, probably. We "create" in our image, similar to God creating us in his image. Divine? No. Imago Dei? Yeah.

There are many more things to say, but let's pause there and ruminate!
