Chocolate Birds
What I did tonight,
When darkness peeped through windows
And the snow forced submission to white,
Was toss pecan candies across my living room
And watch my cat chase
Chocolate birds in dubious flight.
I ate chips because they crunch,
And fight back
With pointy sharp angles.
And it's good to know I'm real
On this night
When the darkness peeped through my window
And the chocolate birds took dubious flight.
And I listened to a basketball game
And the good guys lost
And the good guy seemed lost
And all the good guys got tossed.
And I read about smart women
And how we don't get married
Especially after thirty
And that might matter to me
If I was smart
Or lusty
On this night when darkness peeped in my window
And the chocolate birds took dubious flight.
I talked to you tonight
And I'm sure you said it was alright.
But how many times did Adam complain
Before you decided he was right?
And it makes me angry that stupid people
Think I'm talking about sex
And drunken love like a creepy hex.
All I want is for you to push back
With pointy sharp angles,
Strong thoughts that tangle
By fireside and holy light.
And yet you only peep
Like night...
And chocolate birds in dubious flight.

John 8:32

And Jesus said,
"The Truth hurts, you jerks,
and that's who I Am,
before Abraham."
"It is sad - too bad,
and that's who I Am,
Father Abraham."
"Comfort ye mockingly,
and that's who I Am,
Sands of Abraham."
these words of hope
with voices that choke
sophisticatedly.

A Litmus Test
When all explosions are potential shots fired...
When you hit the deck, while everyone else stands up...
You know you've spent some time in the inner-city.
But damn, that's a lot of gun powder.

When You're Smiling, The Whole World Smiles With You...
For those who care - highlights from the JKidd2 Era. I'm just smiling cause Dirk looks happy. And, why wouldn't he be? Since 'The Kidd' has been back in town, Dirk is shooting a whoppin' 71% from the field.
Dang.

Cilver Cee
There's nothing quite like
snow Cresting white
turned blue by the light
of the moon, like tonight.

A Toast Post
Today is a momentous day. Castro resigned. Winning Colors, a great filly who won the 1988 Kentucky Derby was euthanized due to colic complications. And Jason Kidd has come home to Dallas.
Lift your glasses, all around, to honor, celebrate and remember in which ever order you prefer.

Fidel Castro, El Commandante
Winning Colors takes the Kentucky Derby and the Santa Anita Derby in record time.
