Essence Nonsense

Several post ago, I wrote that humanity was reflective of the Trinity in that there is, in the God-head one essence and three persons, in humanity, one essence, many persons.

So now I wonder about hell.

Can something that is one essence - humanity - be separated? Was the Trinity separated when Jesus was on the cross? Was the essence of the God-head torn in two? Is it possible for something that is one essence to remain separated? Was it the "one essence" that worked against the death of Jesus and caused the resurrection?

What would all of this mean for those "in hell"? If humanity is one essence...

Once again, I realize I have not created an air-tight argument and there's lots and lots to say here, but I'm just throwing them out there for your consideration.
